I suck at titles, and should just ignore this line, but that’s like not reading a book that’s right in front of you: completely impossible
I just wanted to take a moment to mention impressioniste. I am new to tumblr, and she is just so very warm and welcoming and delightful and engaging. And brilliant. And her Anders makes my heart hurt in all the best ways. (Well, all her writing that I’ve read so far is lovely. I just felt Anders deserved a special mention. Because he’s splendid.)
And I feel I should have a clever conclusion to finish off this submission, but I don’t. That’s it. <3 Such wonderful people all over the place, here. ^_^

Versatile, consistent, so much imagination!!! You write character analysis just as perfectly as you write prose, as you write meta and more meta, as you write second person as you write third person, as you write Anders to Fenris to Hawke to every other minor character that you give your time to. You have an amazing body of work, it is inconceivable that just one person could have created it all. But you contribute in other ways too, by sharing with us your screenshots and audio posts and lets not forget the nose porn.
I can read your passion in everything. You pour your heart and soul into those characters and make them your own. Your Anders writing has the ability to fill me with hope and intense sadness and pain and sorrow, hysterical laughter and bitter truth and hilarity and joy. What I wouldn’t give for a mind like yours!
Thank you Impressioniste!
As always, any additional thoughts or comments are welcome; just drop us an ask or a submission or some mail. <3
Impressioniste is truly one of my greatest fandom heroes. When I lurked tumblr and AO3 before joining, I was absolutely mesmerised by her meta essays, and then I found her fics as well and went oh, wow over them.
She wrote the fic that has meant the most to me in fandom. Reading it nearly torn my heart out, because the emotion and raw heartache in The Last Three Years is so real and so deep, and unmatched by anything I have read in fandom since. Her writing is writing that manages to touch the heart, again and again; when she tackles the difficult things as well as the more lighthearted ones, the sweet and heartwarming and the pure fun and fluff. She made one of the most fun variations of the Alphabet Meme yet - in verse!
In my eyes it is the deeper things, the difficult ones, that are the ones where she truly shines the brightest as a writer. There is Justice, being confronted with the mortal world, there is one of the most beautiful Calling fics I have ever read, an ending of a different kind, and the horror of solitary confinement.
And there is Karl, to search for and to break your heart, Karl to put your heart back together again, and then break it some more. Always written in a way that touches so close to the heart, always portraying the feelings and the moments so realistically, so real and so raw.
I think that this is one of her greatest strengths as a writer, the way she can call upon so much emotion with her words, the way she is able to spin heartache and joy both with what she writes, with all the different things she tackles. She has such a depth and versatility that I admire so much, both for her fanfiction and her wonderful meta essays. So much of it simply takes my breath away.
And aside from her writing, she contributes with so many others things, as mentioned - the beautifully edited screenshots, the audio clips and the text files from the games. In addition to all of that, she is also one of the most welcoming and inclusive people I have had the fortune to meet here.
She is actually the reason I joined this fandom - I saw her meta and other writing and thought that this must be the greatest fandom of all time, and I simply had to be part of it. And now that I am, her presence constantly reminds me of that yes, this is the place to be, and I am so glad that I am here.
Perhaps it is most suitable to end this note with a rec for this spiritual successor to The Last Three Years; Anders’ last letter to Hawke before it is time to face the end of something and the start of something else, something larger than them both. It shows so much of her skill, and I hope that those of you that have not taken a closer look at her stories will do so, because there is so much beauty in them, such depth and so much soul.
